Synopsis
Japan is thrown into chaos after a horrifying incident unfolds live on television when a person suddenly swells up and explodes before millions of viewers. The shocking murder is claimed by a mysterious criminal known only as the “Human Vapor,” an extraordinary man capable of transforming his body into gas, allowing him to pass through walls, locked rooms, and even the most secure facilities without leaving a trace.
Unlike ordinary criminals, Human Vapor publicly announces each of his murders in advance, daring the authorities to stop him. Every successful attack deepens the nation’s panic as fear spreads through society like an invisible poison. No prison, security system, or law enforcement agency seems capable of containing an enemy who cannot be physically restrained.
Determined to uncover the truth, investigator Okamoto Kenji joins forces with journalist Kono Kyoko as they race against time to identify the man behind the impossible crimes. Their investigation exposes hidden conspiracies, long-buried secrets, and scientific experiments that blur the line between reality and fiction. As the Human Vapor’s motives slowly come to light, Kenji and Kyoko must confront a terrifying question: can a society survive when its greatest threat is literally impossible to capture?
