Synopsis
Joy of Life tells the story of Fan Xian, a young man born in the Southern Qing empire who mysteriously retains memories from the 21st century. As the illegitimate son of the powerful Minister of Finance, Fan Xian is raised by his grandmother after the tragic assassination of his mother, Ye Qing Mei, a brilliant inventor far ahead of her time.
Under the guidance of his mother’s blind bodyguard Wu Zhu, Fan Xian masters martial arts and poison techniques. After surviving a deadly assassination attempt, he travels to the capital to uncover the truth behind his mother’s death and the origin of his memories.
In the capital, Fan Xian becomes entangled in dangerous political schemes, imperial conspiracies, and power struggles among princes. He also falls in love with Lin Wan Er, the woman chosen by the emperor to become his wife. As secrets unfold, Fan Xian must confront his true identity, loyalty, and destiny in a world where intellect can be as deadly as a blade.
